This is our first coffin shape for you: The ‘Classic Coffin’, where all sides have the same edge length.

The Coffin shape is simply another variation of the Hexagon and all the usual classic Hexagon patterns, like Grandmothers Flower Garden, can be made using the Classic Coffin shape. This gives these patterns a little more interest, as the whole pattern appears to be ‘stretched’ when made with Coffins.

The Coffin shape can also be used in striped patterns of ‘stacked barrels’, which are a great pattern for a scrap quilt and the Coffin is also used as the ‘linking’ piece in Pentagon-ring patterns.
